15 WAM - Days of Wine & Roses
A tribute to the 1896 poem "Vitae Summa Brevis Spem Nos Vetet Incohare Longam" by the English writer Ernest Dowson (1867-1900), this tunnel book features five laser printed layers of courtesians. The range of their courtly gazes suggest dissatisfaction with the tedious vacillations of worldly experience. But, fear not, as Dowson assures us: "They are not long, these days of wine and rose."

The tunnel book is the perfect structure for depicting small animal-antics. Hinges and some layers are handmade paper with bits of used hamster chips. (Yes, it smells like a hamster.)

The Extreme Croquet Club of San Francisco hosts an annual "Pork Off" BBQ and Haiku competition. The haiku winners each receive a copy of this 2 x 2.5" single-sheet pocket book. Someday I want to do a boxed set!
Steppin' Out, October 2006
Created as a birthday present, this 5" x 6" carousel book has a moon dangling in the middle of the spine and googly eyes on the cover. The five scenes depict festive lobsters and handwritten lyrics to Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out".
